It always amazes me.
Imagine that you have been invited to someone's wedding day.
Everyone gets dressed up in their best suits, best dresses, 'Sunday bests'. Everyone looks stunning on that wedding day. Family members and friends will go buy new outfits or even have outfits designed!
I used to ignore this as a child but paid realised the beauty of it as I grew older.
I look at people in wonder and say , "You did all that, just for someone else's special day?"
The nail technician will make sure that this is her/his best work by far! He/she will take the time and effort to make sure the bride's nails are looking splendid.
The tailor will make sure that all the suit measurements are precise, that the suit is just right for the groom.
At 5am on that wedding day, the hairdresser will show up to style the bride's hair.
The old lady down the street will make sure that she wears her best dress, her favourite jewellery pieces and will strut down the street to that church building for the wedding service of a woman she last saw as a little girl.
People from far will climb onto airplanes to attend that special day.
The one person who is always late will make sure that on that wedding day, they wake up on time to be at the church nice and early.
Society will come together for the happiness of two people. Society will make sure that these two people have the day of their dreams.
It is the same with matric dances, graduations, funerals and other important events in one's life.
In fact, I remember an old man in his 60s or 70s, walking to a funeral early one morning. It was quite a distance from church. He wasn't close to the family, but he walked.
Be that person for someone else. Be that nail technician who takes extra time to make a bride's nails look stunning. Be that hair dresser who styles the hair exceptionally well. Be the barber who ensures that his haircut looks fresh for his date. Be that baker who keeps tasting the cake to make sure it tastes impeccable for that kid's 10th birthday. Be the person that wakes up earlier just to make it on time for someone's confirmation service. If your car breaks down, be the person who will call the Uber or start to walk to your nephew's prize giving. Be that person will take the day off work, book a flight and be there to support your friend on his wedding day. Be the person who will do anything just to be there for someone else. It is an act of love, to sacrifice one's time and effort for someone else.
It is so beautiful.
"We love because God first loved us."- 1 John 4:19
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the LORD, and not unto men;"
