Meet Naledi Mbembele, co-founder of eliminateperiodpoverty and this is her story:

I have always been passionate about periods and the female reproductive system however not once did I think that my passion for learning about menstruation and how periods came to be would help me discover what I know now to be period poverty. The #eliminateperiodpoverty is a campaign that is aimed at getting rid of all forms of period poverty. I dream of a world where women and young girls can get their sanitary products without struggle. We live in a world where women use newspapers because they cannot afford pads or tampons, where they miss school because of this. Even though pad drives will not eliminate total period poverty. They are a great start and that we at eliminateperiodpoverty have a pad drive running from the 20th of August to the 20th of September. Let's eliminate period poverty one pad at a time!
