I tried to not make mistakes this year, by doing mostly nothing.
Imagine you're a teacher, and you teach kids mathematics.
You walk around marking some sums and find some mistakes, so you show them how to do better. Nevertheless, you're still proud of their effort.
Then, you go to a particular kid named Jeremy. He sits back with his arms folded across his chest. You lean in to look at his paper, only to realise that Jeremy has not answered a.single.question.
Nothing.
He is aware of your confusion,
"I didn't answer anything, because I didn't want to make mistakes."
He pauses,
"You see, Ma'am, I have made NO mistakes."
Yes, Jeremy, you made no mistakes. But in your striving for unattainable perfection, you have done nothing. You have conquered nothing.
We must realize that if we strive to live a perfect life, we will not live.
By avoiding the failure, I have automatically missed the victory.
By avoiding the initial awkwardness of getting to know someone, I have missed the potential for a relationship.
By avoiding rejection, I have missed redirection.
It is a simple concept, really: you can not be perfect.
Start answering some sums; you'll get some right, and others you'll get wrong. God will be there to correct you and redirect you. Listen to what He says.
With love
YANA
